Colombian pop star Shakira on Sunday visited the site in Haiti, where her foundation will build a school for children survivors of the devastating earthquake.The 33-year-old winner of the Grammy Awards several met killed a few dozen children on the ground in Haiti's capital Port-Au-Prince, which lies in ruins after an earthquake on 12 January as many as 300,000 people."We want to have to think about the future of this country, like Haiti children may be useful to their societies of tomorrow," she said according to Reuters.Shakira's Pies Descalzos (Barefoot) has built several charitable foundation in Colombia.
Their effort is in the same month that pop diva Madonna in Malawi, Africa, traveled to build a school for orphan girls.Shakira came of age in the early 1990s as a virtuoso musician in Colombia, but broke internationally with her 2001 release of "Laundry Service".It is well known for belly dancing barefoot on the stage, and cites as important influences of Western rock bands like the Beatles, Nirvana, The Ramones and U2.
